My Masterís Thesis is called "ON ABRIDGED TRANSLATIONS - Thomas Malory's Le Morte D'Arthur and Peter Straub's Ghost Story". You can find it online here.
The thesis consists of three parts. The first part is a statistical analysis on the frequency of publishing abridged translations, what kind of books get this type of treatment, and whether certain publishers are more likely to choose this route. The data for the analysis came from the Fennica database, which contains all books published in Finland. The other two parts of the thesis present two examples of abridged translations, examine how the translation was abridged and speculate on the possible reasons for specific choices.
